hi all,

just built my system and wanna clock the cpu just a touch.

would the simplest way to do this to just increase the fsb? will i need to mess with the ram timings/voltages? comp is running good but wanna push it just a touch with the least amount of effort.

i can run the in built overclocking tool however it keeps jumping up and down depending on how much the cpu is being used - is this ok or would it be better to have the cpu at one constant speed?

thanks guys/girls

Hi, you will need as you sayed to encrease Bus speed!
if you clock a bit, than don't play with volts...

you need to change some Bios settings too ... look at my E8500 thread, or search a bit, a lot of people made E8400 threads!

I got my E8400 to 3.82 just by upping the FSB to 425 and giving it 1.35v

Bear in mind thah on intel boards this will run your RAM at 850Mhz at least as they dont have a divider lower than 1:1 so you need either RAM that will overclock to that, or PC8500 ram

If you have an nvidia based board you can manually set your ram at 800Mhz
