I've read through the beginners sticky having never overclocked before and as a first foray into OC'ing world i just upped the bus speed to 350mhz to give a new clock speed of 350x9 giving 3150mhz. I changed nothing else.

However, according to CPU-Z my CPU is running at 350x6 giving 2100mhz. Bizarrely it occasionally jumps back to x9 but only briefly. The Vcore also seem to change with it. In the bios the cvore is 1.2000 but in CPU-Z on x6 clock its on about 1.07.

Is this normal or have i made an error somewhere?

Thanks.

That is normal, its a thing called intel speedstep or sometimes known as EIST. Its a power saving feature that when the computer dos'nt need all the power, it down clocks the vcore and multiplier to reduce heat and save on energy.

But as soon as u do anything that needs more power, it will go upto the clock you set. So nothing at all to worry about, but if you want it to run at full speed all the time, you can turn this off in the bios.

Thanks for that. Any idea what i should look for in the bios to turn it off? I couldn't find anything just now.
