So I will have a E8400 next week and have already updates the BIOS on the P5B Deluxe. Was wondering if i will get any problems when I install or if anyone has had problems?

Thnx

No

Still works great and is one of the jewel 965 mobos that have great clocking abilities.

I know this is a dual core so it should be ok but those P5Bs just don't like quads at all..

Plus they do tend to droop like mothers so the OP might be tempted to overvolt for for a high oc and perhaps knacker his cpu?

Just my 2p ;)

Only planning to OC to 3.6 maybe a bit higher so should be ok. 3.6 I shouldn't have to change volt's from what I understand with these chips.

Don't leave the voltage on auto if you are overclocking, the board will decide itself what voltage to use and may be a lot higher than you would like.

In what way mate ?

Im on my second P5B Deluxe (first one RMAd after a dodgy BIOS update) with a Q6600 and had no probs (that im aware of :S)

well for example mine (admittedly I've had my P5K a year so they've had plenty of chance to sort the P5B bios) wouldn't clock my Q6600 stably over about 3ghz regardless of the voltage.

Searching around at the time confirmed it was the board not playng nice with the quad.

Yea I can say my old P5B Deluxe was a good clocker I got my QX6700 to 3.6GHz :D My e2140 to 3.0GHz, there good boards tbh.

Cheers

May be the BIOS update, or just luck, but ive had 3.6GHz out of two Q6600s (a B3 and a G0) on this P5B Del with no probs - at stock volts

:)
