I'm due to build my first rig soon. I've decided on getting an ASUS p5k premium but I can't decide on which CPU to get.
I know there's plenty of posts about this subject, and i've read most, but I could do with a answer as to which CPU suits my needs.
Basically I play games, nothing else really, and I will be overclocking a bit but only on air.
So should I just buy a Dual Core and keep it for 12 months or so then upgrade to a 45nm quad? If so should I buy a Wolfdale or a Conroe?
Or would a quad be good value for money over the next 12 months?
Cheers.

Just go with a budget duo like a 2180/2200 and overclock that more than enough for the next year.

I also looked at these as a stop gap. At less than £50 they would save me some extra cash I could use elsewhere I suppose.
Would it do for a year then but a new quad?
Would a 2200 be good introduction into overclocking?
Cheers for the response.
