What temp seems right for my CPU ?

I took my TRUE120 off to rotate it, (I put it on facing up/down to start with without any fan on it ) My temperatures were roughly 28C Idle and 48/50C (Max) on full load, Without a CPU fan.

I have an Antec 300 case, 2X 120mm exhaust fans as standard at the rear and 2X 120mm intake fans at the front.

I thought that was great, 28C is a nice cool figure right ?

Well, I put the TRUE120 on the correct way and added a 120mm fan facing out to the rear exhaust fan. My temps now are roughly 33C Idle and 42C full load.

I think i applied the thermal paste in different quantities both times, Did i do it correctly the first time or is it better with the temperatures i have now ?

Considering i did not have a fan on the cooler first time around.

I don't stress my machine regularly, It is on nearly 24/7 though, So i guess the idle temperature is what i should be concerned about most, Is this correct ?

It idles at the reduced 2GHz btw.

Cheers.

Those temps are fine tbh, ideally the cooler should be placed so that hot air is pushed through the cooler and out the rear case fan, (as youve done) 42c at load is pretty good.

Unsure about that one setter. The antec 900 has a single, massive blowhole fan at the back. This tends to dominate airflow, meaning the TRUE positioned horizontally with a fan between it and the pci slots will yeild better temperatures.

This is not applicable if you have a hot graphics card in the first pci-e slot, since it starves the fan on the TRUE. However if you can move the card down into a second x16 slot, this is likely to yeild the best temperatures.

Load temperatures of 50 are negligible though, youve got another 20 degrees of headroom to overclock into :)

Sorry, It's an Antec 300, Two fans at the rear.

I think i done a bad job with the paste, Before with a fan on the TRUE load temps would have came down to around what it is now (42C).

I might re-seat it (again!).
