right ive overclocked my e8400 to 4ghz but real temp says 60 :) on load and coretemp says 70

what do i believe im putting 1.39v in bios through it

If you're under water i'd say those temps are possibly a little high. Although you are using a higher voltage than i am.

I'm presently @ 3.8ghz on 1.264v in windows (1.28 in bios).

Temps and voltages monitored by coretemp and OCCT.

I find that coretemp reads 5c lower than OCCT.

In testing i've got the following:

Coretemp idle: 37c

Coretemp load: 54c

OCCT idle: 42c

OCCT load: 59c

Just tested and it's showing a full 10c lower than OCCT - couldn't reach thermal equilibrium in this time but every single degree jump all the way up to 55c in OCCT was matched exactly (although 10c lower) by real temp.

Real temp:

Actual idle - 32c

Theroetical 100% load - 49c

Difficult to know which is correct however i'd always err towards the higher temp just for safeties sake. :)

core temp and occt say *** same on my mobo lmao i supose its because we have different mobos

and i have a pa 120.3 and a swif 120.2 rad

speedfan says that its 101 and 103 off load

Wow! Hope it's not that hot!!! ;)

Think you'll just have to base it on the hotter temps (it's what i'd do) plus it seems two of the programs are reading those same warmer temps.

You should have a bit more to go temp wise as their tjunction limits are higher than the older 65nm chips.

Just make sure not to push voltage over 1.4v... a few seem to have damaged their chips by doing this which has led to degredation in clock speed.

I'd personally see those as fine... although i'd ask around just to be sure.

Does stability drop off below the voltage you're presently at?

yeah fails prime ffts if i lower voltages in windows cpuz says vcore is 1.376

is there any other settings i can play with 2 get stable with lower vcore?

Are you using the full 9x multi for 4ghz or have you dropped it and increased the fsb further.

Sometimes you can try one or the other and find that one will run at a lower voltage.

Worth a shot if you haven't already tried it. :)

right reseated water block with some artic silver and temos have gone down 1 degree so i suspect that its the boards sensors

put a e8400 in my mates p5k-e and his coretemp looks correct just a little higher than my real temp as his is on air wierd
