My current CPU has broke and I am looking to replace it.

Will this CPU work with my motherboard?

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB)
I was thinking of buying that CPU to put in my:
Abit AW9D-MAX mobo

I am seeing all over the web some people saying it will work and others saying not, the abit bios update notes for this mobo state that it should work but then theres another areas saying it wont.

it is the 1333FSB part that throws me, my mobo supports 775 sockets but I have no idea about that.

(If not please suggest a CPU that will work for around £100-£130)

What the difference between C0 and E0? im a nub xD
ummmm its a long story but basically the power supply has been checked and is working.
Computer will not turn on with this CPU in.

or because my mobo is quite old and no longer supported do you think i should just buy a new CPU and Mobo for about £100 each?

It may be your motherboard which is faulty, can you test the cpu in another machine.

I will try but I am pretty sure it is it, I am a gamer so would like to switch to AMD anyway so I will probably take your advice on those items.

If I buy those two items will my computer still be as good as it is now and will everything else that is still in my computer be able to plug into the new motherboard? the memory, gfx card etc...?

Yep, both boards use DDR2 memory & PCI-E so there should not be any compatability problems.

Thank you, finally some help lol.

And my computer will run the same if not better with games yeah? sweet as a nut :) im from kent too btw xD

No probs mate,

The System will perform a lot better, the cpu is tri-core and being the black edition has a unlocked multi so you can overclock easier.

Another person from Kent :D

Hope all goes well :)

Could somebody please suggest a nvidia graphics card and some memory sticks for my rig for around 100-150 pounds total please? my mobo is the GIGABYTE one RJC suggested to me in a earlier post ^^^^^

thank you :)
