Ok well im new to Overclocking and custom pc's in general. after just building my first rig Specs here. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17907322 im looking to push my watercooling abit. this is what i have so far and this is 8 hours stable. orthos says it 4.2 but its only 4ghz in cpu-z and bios.

i can get into windows at close to 4.2 to run super pi but its not very stable. i would like to get super pi to run close to 10 secs, will ram speed effect this or is it totally cpu speed?

my stock VID was 1.19V. i dont know much about voltages and what not but at 450 x 9.5 it wont make it into windows but 450 x 9 it will and is 8 hours stable so im guessing its not my fsb holding me bk at all?

i have my ram running at 900mhz 1:1, its rated at 1066mhz so i still have room to play with there? iv got it running at 2.1v's which is stated on the ram its self also iv raised the timings by one as iv heard that lets u push cpu a little further.

I would like to get as close to 4.5ghz as possible without running volts that will totally kill my cpu. i dont really understand some of the asus bios options. heres my bios settings right now.

as u can see my cpu voltage is set to 1.4 but cpu-z shows 3.75. this is Vdroop? i have loadline calibration enabled to minimize this i think.

few things i dont understand are the FSB termination voltage and the GTL reference voltage on the cpu and NB. anythings iv missed or have done wrong plz lemme know.

Cheers Brad.

Perhaps your timings are a bit too tight?
I've just finished benchmarking a system and at 4Ghz my chip needed 1.4000v, anything less and it wouldn't be prime stable. Only other voltage I changed was RAM voltage. Memory was running 1011Mhz 5,5,5,18.

You may need a bit more juice to get above 4Ghz stable, my chip has a better VID of 1.0500v so another indicator of you needing a bit more juice, providing you have decent cooling.

lol cheers for the replys. i kinda gave up on it. im at 4ghz 450 x 9 12 hours stable.

running like this 24/7 now under custom water loop.

managed to get into windows at this to run super pi but its not stabe at all.

whats the max volts i wanna be pushing through this just for benchies?

wow i wasnt expecting anywhere near that high. i guess 4.5ghz and sub 10 second super pi may be possible with those kinda volts. can anyone confirm for the odd time here and there i should be "ok" going up towards 1.6v's?
