E8500 on stock

Put my E8500 in today, waiting for TRUE to arrive.

Im 100% sure I secure all the crappy push pins but temp in BIOS says 90c+ so it must not be on properly. Ive tried a few times but is there anyway of making sure the stock heatsink is on properly?

i only used the paste suppled on the heatsink but might remove and put something else on as 90c+ means I cant even play with it!

Have you down loaded any other temp monitors? somethings not right there, did the pins click in to place (damn those pins)

I really cant see why theyve made these heatsinks with such useless installation

Reseated and tried to get it on properly, first it was 67c idle then it shot up when loading windows :/

Looks like ill have to wait for my TRUE

tilt the case to the right and see if it affects the temps.

The stock fan should not have any give in it once fitted properly. They click once when in the right place and then again when fixed down.

Have to admit i'm not a fan of the design i usually get really fekked off with it and end up bending pins. When done right its quite quick and easy to fit however.

Well some of these chips tend to have dodgy sensors so this might your problem .

I dont believe for it running at 80-90c, even if you cooled it passively with stock HS.

Good point, laying the case on its side and dropping the heatsink onto the cpu would probably give lower temps than that.

Managed to get it on more securely, boots into windows now. Had to do a frsh install due to different chipset on the motherboard, stupid P5K dying on me :/
Temps are still very high but Im not gonna use it until my TRUE comes anyway really
