If you're going for a new complete system then why go with an old soon to be extinct socket/cpu type, that you're not going to be able to upgrade.
The future is i7, the cost difference isn't really that much more. In the long run the i7 will be the most cost effective, as it'll last you longer, and newer chips fast ram etc should go into the X58 board.

Yes but many people have told me that the rig ive choosen it pretty much top end Q..
Wer as that system youve shown me is a pretty much basic bottom end i7 and in benchmark comparison you wouldnt notice much difference and if anything the Q rig would be better?

The upgrade to i7 has just cost me 147.50 for mobo chip and ram!
How'd you manage that? And what did you have before?
And i7 will be better than a Core 2 Quad, though my Quad does beat reflux's i7 in COD WAW Loadup times

For £100 difference it would really be worth going i7.
You say the top end Q9xxx will beat it but don't see how??
With the i7 your getting a much better chip, that will run the same speeds as the overclocked Q9xxx if not more, 2gb more ram which is already running faster..
