Basically was just checking everything was running fine, like just checking core temp and cpu-z etc then noticed that my E8600 was running at 2.003Ghz instead of 3.33!?!?

Temps at 2% load are also 47degrees - which is way too high for 2Ghz!?!?!

I'm running stock cooler but only because, to my knowledge, no better cooler fits in my SFF case.

Rest of spec is in my sig.
OS: WinXP Pro x64

Any advice welcome :)

Cheers

Thought there was a problem with mine aswell, turned out it is just Intel's speed steppings. I've just left mine as is, don't wanna go messing around with it for the minute.

It's just speedstep. Your multiplier drops to 6 when your CPU is idle to save power. You can turn it off in your BIOS if you want.

When you actually use your CPU for something, the multiplier will go back up to 10 anyway. If you're not overclocking, you may as well keep speedstep on and save a few pennies on your electricity bill.

Edit: oh yeah, and you might want to check the airflow in your case. See if you can squeeze another fan in there somewhere.
