I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33GHz and It’s an OEM type so no fan included, can anyone recommend me a suitable fan (not for over clocking necessarily) I have an Intel E1864-001 which I believe is not quite man enough for the job, ideally I would like a copper looking cooler but not a great monster that will not fit on my Asus Commando.

If you're not clocking then you'll want quiet over cooling, so any scythe will do a good job, if youre wanting small Id say the mini ninja but tehyre out of stock atm, frostytech

never heard of them tbh, look at the frostytech link I gave you earlier, rates all the decent heatsinks and even gives tables showing comparisons with cooling and noise levels

I have found out hunting that the StarTech 1U is actually rated for the Intel Core 2 Duo but it’s not clear if it’s the full range or just the lower spec CPU’s in the range.

Ive had the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. Its a very good soild cpu cooler for the price.
I replaced it with a zelman, which keeps things cooler and cools the chipset more. But costs a lot more and is a lot alouder at full speed

That looks interesting, which model have you got the one I have just been looking at is here

They can be a bit on the loud side if ran full speed, i have mine dialled down to about 1000 rpm and theyre pretty quiet. Is nice though to have the extra speed and cooling available for bench runs or overclock stability testing.

Got the Zalman CNPS9700-NT which i got of a friend on the cheap. Glows a nice green neon colour. Probbly twice as much as your probbly looking at and is a bit of a monster size wise. If your not looking for over clocking necessarily then Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro prob the best bet imo.

Thank you my friend you have been very helpful, I have gone for the Zalman CNPS7000C-CU because of the size, I noticed most of these fans are 3 pin plug so I guess they go directly to the PSU as the cpu fan socket is 4 pin on the MB
