asus probe sucks - lol, just checked temps with core temp and speedfan and my temps are 38 on both cores right now

PS: as long as you are below 65 on load, you are ok.

I thought your temps seemed low :p - at the moment got my chip at 4.4 and idle is 40c full load around 50 -52c

At stock my temp sensors are stuck  soon as I overclocked they moved when stressed.

i am surprised by my temps actually, coz with my e6600 oc @3.3 i was at 39c idle with a zalman 9500 cooler. doesnt seem that e8600 is much cooler, then again my noctua cpu cooler is running at 900rpm for noise reduction, i can always crank it up to 1200rpm if i ever feel the need to oc the e8600

22C is amazing. What sort of room temperature if I may ask?
Also, is it as fast as the [email protected]?

I am thinking rather than overclocking my Q6600 to 3.0GHz to obtain the same performance of a E8600 out of the box, I would rather upgrade my Q6600.

Despite I have just bought this who rig weeks ago...

It's never going to be a set temp. There are so many variables. Clocked or not. Voltage. Cooling type. Case type. Location. One thing is for sure though. It will be cooler than a Q6600.

Personally i do not think the E8600 is a good buy. The more sensible option is to go for a E8400. All will hit 4Ghz more or less.

Most e8600 have stuck sensors from what I read and also intel said anything under 45 - 50 is more than likely incorrect by a few degrees either way. Also you need to use latest core temp or real temp to get correct temps for wolfdales.

At stock my E8600 idles at 33/33. Under 100% load it gets to 52/54.
Surprisingly enough I get the same temps overclocked at 4.3 ghz
