Ok this'll seem like a weird thread and I think the gaming section will get the best hits for replies.
I'm asking on behalf of my brother because we're having an issue.. his GPU usage isnt maxed out however his CPU is often getting to full usage so I'm thinking this is the problem and I'm convinced its because BF3 performs so much better on a quad core.
So let me list his spec:
E8600 @ 4.3Ghz
Nvidia GTX470 1280mb
4gb 1066Mhz Ram
Asus Rampage Formula
Originally we tried CF4890s but that was a no go too and infact, the game just isnt ready for an non-ideal setup and he was getting less FPS in CF than he was with a single card running! Those should have had no problem what so ever running it at a solid 60fps.
So whats my question?
I'm after people who have an E8XXX/QXXXX cpu + 470/5870 graphics cards and what cpu/gpu usage you're getting in a round of BF3 multiplayer and on what settings. I didnt think his cpu and overclock would struggle like this but it looks like its match is met!
It'd be interesting to see.. if I could get his overclock up by another couple hundred mhz.. if that solves the problem but I think his oc is sufficient enough
