EA admits to manipulating online review scores in direct violation of the FTC Testimonial and Endors

This is the first time this has ever happened and only EA are responsible!

Seriously the whimpering men babies of the internets need to try harder as their seemingly random tantrums about stuff is just getting boring.

I would image that most game developers/distributors pay people to go around bigging up their games on sites like this, its all part of the PR campaign

*****Official Insert Game Here Threads******
They are ripe for PR campaigns, it would be naive to think its not happening here. The official threads make it easy for them, they only need to sit in one thread.

Whut? Requires objective reviews? Have you read some of the ones that are posted? This part of the Kotaku post sums it up nicely:
And? They're still user reviews even if they are a load of crap. Deliberately writing a glowing review when you're part of the dev team and failing to disclose that is not the same thing. If you look at the review tally and don't read them thats your own problem, its not hard to find some real reviews if you look.

Ding. Correct answer.

If you think thats the correct answer you have no clue what a review is actually for. Those of us who don't just buy half the games on Steam regardless of what others think might actually want to get an idea if they're any good before we buy them, unless you feel like changing your stance on piracy, after all the demo was **** but apparently thats not a good enough indication

I use YouTube video gameplay and demos/free trials for reviews, so yeah, i do get help from YouTube videos, just not worded reviews.

Unless a youtube video can somehow show you most of the games content (or lack thereof) then no video footage doesn't cut it, just like a worded review on its own doesn't either.

That's what i search for, YouTube videos with a decent amount of content, and so far, YouTube has them.

I used to work for Rockstar Games and it was known by a lot of people that some magazines were "friendly" to us... Eurogamer and Gamespot I am looking at you ;)

And again I have to point this out to you. Not everyone thought the demo was bad. Some of us enjoyed it enough to want to get the game, and amazingly then enjoyed the game.

I rarely bother with reviews because I'd much rather watch gameplay videos when no demo is available. If I can't see what the game I'm concidering to buy is like, why would reading the words of someone that may have diffent tastes to me be better? Some reviews can be informing, but I'd rather make my own mind up rather than have someone else tell me wether or not I'll like something.

Yeah yeah the omission of the words 'i thought' really needed that sarcy comment.

Just because they say a picture is worth a thousand words doesn't mean it applies to everything.

I have to laugh at a few people I know that base game pretty much solely on points out of 10... They don't even read the conclusions giving them an idea why its 6/10 or something just ah its below 8/10 not even going to consider... It wasn't a 10/10 so I'll wait for it to be £10. I think the way the verbal gaming community see scores is the complete opposite in what reviewers are trying to show with the scores.

I've noticed over the years that games pretty much have to be 8/10 to be considered by a lot of people which is a shame as we all have our guilty pleasures. I try to tell my friends reviews the game on value for money rather than how good the graphics are, are you probably going to get 20 hours out of the game or 2 hours and will those be enjoyable enough for you to part with £35-40.
