EA and Origin

I hope future EA games are not going to force us to download Origin to play the same way some games force you to use Steam!

Wouldnt be happy to have both Steam and Origin on my system!

Only reason I got steam on my Pc in the first place (wasnt happy then, happy now) was becuase it came bundled with MW2 as a forced download!

You cant install BF3 retail from CD (like BFBC2) independently of Origin?

Im sure with bf3, (like bc2) youll be able to use your retail disk cd key with origin.

I installed it independently . As I was planning to do with BF3.

I doubt it, I'd have thought it'll be utilising the friends system that's been implement within Origin.

If it's anything like Star Wars The Old Republic, you won't need to install/run Origin to play the game.

Origin is a store front for digital distribution but the client will be included in box copies of SW:ToR.

I imagine they'll use in-game friends lists, rather than a Steam-esque Friends list.

Origin vs Steam can be boiled down to this:

Valve use the HUGE revenue they get from Steam to:
A - Make Steam better.
and
B- Make their games better.

Does anyone honestly think that EA will use money from Origin in the same way?

Also why would I install two clients on my computer that both do the same thing?

Why would I install the GoG client and Steam at the same time? GoG supplies different games than Steam to me, as will Origin going forward by the look of it.

If you want to play those games, you'll have to install Origin. Tbh, I find it an inconvenience, and I'm a little annoyed that I won't be able to use Steam for certain games, it's not going to stop me playing a game I want to though.

Think of it diffrently. You dont have to run the steam or origin clients at the same time. just dont startup the clents unless you want to play.

Not sure how origin will work with future releases, but with moh and bf2 (which i bought through origin). The program doesnt have to be running to launch and play them.

Of course not, they've got to pay for PopCap somehow.

Most likely they will be forcing your hand with big titles like BF3 and SW:TOR. Just like Valve did with HL2.
