check it, kotaku put out a article saying how ea tried bribing game reviewers with a 2ton cheque. lol they sent out wooden boxes with skeletons on and the words dante inferno to reviewers, inside the box was a velvet pillow with the cheque attatched

heres the message in the box

In Dante's Inferno, Greed is a two-headed beast. Hoarding wealth feeds on beast and squandering it satiates the other. By cashing this check you succumb to avarice by harding filthy lucre, but by not cashing it, you waste it, and thereby surrender to prodigality. Make your choice and suffer the consequence for your sin. And scoff not, for consequences are imminent.

hit the link, contains a vid of the cheque being burned down

NOT BRIBERY.

It's a publicity stunt for one game. If they were bribing they'd do it nearer the time. without fancy artwork :)

I agree. It is, but it's stupid as hell and going to backfire. I think in this case, bad publicity is not good publicity (against the saying). EA of all companies do not need rumours spreading around the net with physical, albeit dressed up, proof of cheques flying around game reviewers.

Pretty much every game company does this to try and get better reviews. They try and pamper the reviewers with girls, gifts and expensive trips in jets.

We are all in the wrong business. :(

$200 is a small amount to "bribe" a games journo, pretty sure at some point MS gave HD TVS to some game reviewers, its pretty common in the industry for these perks. What it does do, even if it was the opposite of what kotaku wanted was to bring more controversey and interest in this game. If any site was that worried that there integrity would be hurt (lol) they would take the check and donate it to charity and not mention it. Instead they used it as a way to get more hits to their site thus still benifitting from the "cheque" which wasnt a real one anyway.

it works well as you have made a thread about it +1 to EA advertising bods

I never understand why kotaku gets any perks, invited to any press events, or anything.

They don't ever report anything, it's just a link farm pretty much with a few lines of text written about other sites articles. They are pretty scummy to be honest. I hate the site yet I constantly visit ._.

That article on Kotaku talks about real checks... but check in the picture is obviously not real or bankable.

Really, who on earth would take this seriously. I think it's a fantastic idea, but unfortunately it's lost on idiots.
