EA Downloader- how to backup games?

Technically, you can't. I have spent ages trying to back up my 2142 download as it's 2gb and I'm on 512k.

There is a way around it, backup your eadm folder in the hidden application data folder when the download is at about 98% so it will take a few seconds to finish the download off and decrypt it.

You can backup the full extracted file you download but it will not work as it has to be decrypted on each machine. :)

Hi,
Just wondering what i need to copy to backup the games i bought on EA store

Thanks in advance

When you first install EADM it will ask you where you want to store the Cache folder.

Select a drive thats not windows, then if you need to reinstall or backup that Cache folder all you do when you reinstal eadm is point it to the cache folder when it asks you. All your games will be there

You can oly download it for free for a year.
Rubbish, I've had 2142, NS and NFS:C since they came out, I can still to this day download them for nothing.

Few problems if you try to do that. 1) You would need to install it to the root of another drive as it claims the filename will be too long. 2)It's much easier to just go into application data and take what's there already.

Start>Control Pannel>Add Remove Programmes Click on EA Downloader then click uninstall

then never touch anything with any sighn of EA involvement again.
That'll be what, around 60% of the games out now then?

Well its worked fine for me with about 5 Installs, 2 new harddrive swaps and i have about 6.6gig in the cache folder

what someone said above find where it is downloaded and copy that to a CD or DVD and back up.

aslong as yo0u have the ea downloader installed when you click on that file at a later date it will reinstall no problems. You only need ea downloader installed to validate the copy to then allow you to play.

Sometime after the release of BF2142, and when it became the "EA Store", thats when the new 6 months normal price, pay extra for 2 years, download service thing kicked in. That pretty much made me never want to buy a game on it again.
...says the guy with crysis in his sig:p
