I'm about to blow my cool this is absolutely ridiculous.

So I decided today that I wanted to take out my G27 and play a bit of Shift 2 for a quick blast from the past.

So I download it off steam, setup my G27 and as I click play a window appears saying all my authentications have been used up ?!

Not the end of the world I thought, I'm sure there must be an easy de-authorization process. After looking through the help pages I find that I need to go to the windows games section, right click on Shift 2 and click de-authorize.

Of course though, I don't have a shift 2 icon in my windows game section so I can't do this as I just reformatted my computer recently.

So now I'm stuck in a 60min + queue waiting to talk with an EA advisor who can hopefully sort this out.

What should have literally taken 5 minutes max to do, has now resulted in an hour plus long process.

Yet another fail for EA and their s&"£! DRM. My biggest question is, why can't Shift 2 automatically de-authorize a computer upon uninstall? Would save all this hassle.

The sad thing is, I can probably pirate a copy of Shift 2 quicker than it's going to take for this adviser to sort this mess out. Next time this happen I will just pirate because frankly EA doesn't deserve the money we pay when we have to deal with headaches like this.

Anyway bit of a random rant, but seems to apply to everyone's impressions of EA recently, even though Shift 2 is getting to be an "old" game now.

Update:

And after all that waiting and explaining the situation to the advisor.

"Thank you for waiting, you may need to contact a specialized team of EA to further assist you with your request. Please call them at 0870 243 2435. They are available Monday through Saturday 9AM-9PM EST."

/facepalm

Thanks EA.

Huh, not as easy as I thought, can only find a crack exe for shift 1. Sorry mate.

DRM strikes again. So, if you uninstall via steam. Aka just delete local content, is that me not telling EA I have uninstalled it?

Apparently not?

I remember I have always uninstalled my Shift 2 through the windows "Programs and Features", so I would have assumed that was enough?

would have been nice if EA had gave a warning when entering in your CD keys, how to de-authorize them. I honestly don't mind doing it myself, especially if it means saving all this headache.
