EA Removes Recently Released Games from Steam

I can see why, and in a way it does make sense for them to want to do that.

Bit of a pain though for people who like digital distribution without the hassle of multiple clients.

WTF, I hate how companies are trying to force upon us to buy from one place according to that article and some sources on the net BF3 will be downloadable only (no retail disc version) and only from the new origin download service. If this is the case i will deffo boycot EA games, i can forgive some DRM but being forced to buy a game via download is a joke.

Those 'sources' are probably talking out there arse to stir things up and get visitors to there site.

Exactly, what?

Isn't that what retail Steamworks games force you to do though?

No... he's falling prey to bull**** stories that BF3 will be digital only. Steamworks has nothing to do with that.

Besides, if they did that I imagine Game would throw a hissy fit and refuse to stock other games from them.

Uhh this means I need 2 download managers now :/

My EA accounts are messed up as well, When my googlemail switched to gmail I ended up having 2 accounts. I have to use the googlemail login to actually play BC2. I also have an account with a live e-mail and that seems to be linked to my BC2 as well and I can only download it through this account but I have to be in my googlemail account to play it online...

It's ****ed me off too much that I just gave up on BC2...

And probably different passwords for each account yes? It's a nightmare i know :p

Its not even healthy competition in the game distribution industry. You would not see ATI ban nVidia from creating new GPU's, in a sense EA have dug a grave for themselves. I for one will never install Origin on my PC.

That shouldnt be an issue

If you had a googlemail account, switching to gmail still allows googlemail to come through to your address????

Yes but I have to use googlemail to login because there is another account registered to the gmail version?

It's really annoying I must say.

edit: Do you think EA would delete the account registered to the gmail version and move my current one to that address and then move the somehow download only from the live account to the google account? I don't want 3 accounts!

I'm guessing no because there support is ****

Meh, I can see why they are doing it for a few reasons but it is annoying. I'll just buy the boxed versions if they are not putting them on Steam, and if the box copy requires I install Origin I'll just not bother getting it. Not a "I hate EA" thing, it's purely as I already have games through D2D, GFWL, Steam and my boxed versions and I really don't want another outlet.

Plus I can't really see them as competition for Steam or any other digital distro and most of them are what the publishers set the prices at so for the most part they are either going to have the same discounts or they are going to be RRP.
