Ok sooo I've just decided to upgrade my system with an SSD atlast..

Re-installed everything that to a smooth running system and figured id check for all recent driver updates before using the latest that i downloaded.. figured a clean install is better than updating..

However.. I noticed that the "ASUS" recommended drivers seem to be out of date in comparisson to those posted on the "AMD" website.?! -

My gut says go over to amd and get the updated driver.?! However - The asus overclocking features built into my card dont seem to do very well in compatibility of overclocking with the "basic clocking settings" in the default version of CCC - unlike the Asus version where i can use the smart doctor program bundled which has voltage tweeks etc for better stability.

Also - We all know the Windows Experience Index means little to nothing - But to note; with the Latest "Stock" Amd Drivers my card benchmarks a happy 7.9 - but with the Latest Asus offering I manage a 7.3 ? :/ - Clearly Some performance is Hindered..?!

- Couple of screenshots so you guys can see exactly what I'm faced with;

Just go with the latest AMD driver, the manufacturers websites are always out of date.

I'd ditch the asus smart doctor and use afterburner.

- I have contemplated and tested afterburner using ati's updated driver..
problem i have here, is i get less of a clock on my card as i cant tweak the volatage in afterburner like i can smartdoctor..

As it stands with smartdoctor;

I achieve
990 Gpu Clock from the stock 790 and 1230 Vram from the stock 1000 with just a tweak from 1.157 to 1.165 on the volatage...
Without the voltage tweek im down to 915 on the GPU and just shy of 1200 stable on the ram...
Seems like quite a difference? :(

But I hear you and it's looking asif that's clearly gonna be the better path to take, i'm not ignorant to the fact to later drivers offering better performance / compatability.. So i guess it'll just be back to the drawing board of finding a new stable clock at the default voltage..

You should be able to tweak voltages in afterburner, you just have to unlock voltage adjustment - think its in the options or config file.

Hmm I wasn't aware that possible? I thought only the Clock limit could be adjusted? In which case I'll definitely look back into that.
Cheers for the heads up :D

Well... Seems like im at a wall... Got myself to 940 on the gpu but a measly 1060 on the ram @ stock voltage cant seem to get the voltage tweek unlocked so think thats me done for the time being..
However, tests in kombustor are actually giving out better performance results so I guess i can't grumble too much, the ati default drivers over asus drivers definitely the better option :D

As an extra; if anyone knows what i need to do to unlock the volts tweek in ab version 2.2.5beta or 2.2.4 id be ever so grateful :)

For me I enabled voltage control in settings (first page) and set unofficial overclocking to 2 in the config and pasted in the EULA sentence.

Nope so such luck changing it to 2 just greys out all my options.. I can see this is gonna test my patience a little LOL!!
