Anyone got one or used one? Reviews seem really mixed from what I've read. Some are saying it's excellent and others that it's useless. I have managed to find a few sample videos on Youtube and it does sound better but there's not really a lot for me to go on.

Would appreciate any experiences or samples if anyone has them...

The Turtle Beach one? I have one. The stereo separation is good, but the surround sound won't blow your mind. I gather the Astro Mixamp is better for surround sound, but it comes at a premium.

Is the surround sound not all that?

What games do you use it with? People say on FPS games its pretty good.

I only ask as I am debating getting one.

The thing is I can add this to my x11's and get a surround setup the same as the px5's for half the price. And I am unsure what to do.

Would you recommend the dss for the price? Or not worth it?

I'll have a look at the mixamp as I think I could stretch to it if it was a lot better as surround is what I'm looking for really.

Also the mixamp looks a lot sexier :)

I'd say for the price it's good, yeah.

Maybe I'm not playing the games - FPS, mainly - which really benefit from it. It is good, but all the reviews say the mixamp is better, but I can't compare and contrast ;)

I think I'll go for the mixamp as it looks a lot nicer with easy volume knobs and the voice/mic features are definitely something I would use.

Also it seems to use a triple contact 3.5mm headset jack so I could theoretically plug in my beats and use the built in mic.

Thanks guys, would never have known about the mixamp if not for the replies.

EDIT: Screw it, I think I'll cancel my Beats order and just order the A30 package from astro :D

Bringing up an old thread, I know.

But did you get the Mix Amp? I'm heavily tempted by one, that and a decent set of cans. £230 all in is a lot of money though.

Have you tried movies etc on it? How is it?

Yes, I got the mixamp, it is great for games and movies.

Games do sound great with it feeling so much more like you're in the environment rather than listening to it through headphones... Definitely recommend. When I first played bad company with them on I was actually scared!

Do movies work in Surround too? Or do they just sound like they would through a normal 3.5mm jack on the TV?

That would be a pleasant suprise if they did.

Def buying them, they get rave reviews everywhere.

Bit disppointed some games are not 7.1 , ie Modern Warfare 3 , looking to buy the Ear Force DD2

So is it possible to use my Turtle Beach with astro mixamp would this be better then a Ear Force ? , if so which one ?

Any 3.5mm headphones can be used with the Astro, I think your choice is pretty much wired or wireless.

Always wired for me, plus its cheaper.
