Any opinions on whether this will happen? Having seen thr iMac and Macbook regreshed I personally think we will see a MBP refresh Feb or possibly late Jan.

EDIT: Would a don please correct my title spelling mistake. Thanks :)

By refresh, you mean update?

I have a 17" MBP - just bought it recently, what is being changed?

I have no evidence tht anything is being changed. But in the last few months everything else has been and I'm guessing that the MBP is next in line. I could be (and probably am) completely wrong :)

Can it be expected there will be a new iphone middle of 2010? I'm in the market for both a macbook pro and iphone and it seems holding out 6 more months might be the best idea if new models are due.

Apple has booked a media event in January, most likely to unveil the Apple Tablet. But it is possible that there will be a MacBook Pro refresh as well. If there isn't, there should be one in March for sure.

How sweet is the 17"??? I nearly nearly persuaded my self into one but the extra £300 was sort of needed at the time (and i felt a little weird contemplating a laptop screen that had a higher resolution than my old desktop)

Oh yeah and for the OP theres another thread about on this from a month or two ago, some heavy hints from mac roumers that it would be updated but i think the core2duo has quite a bit of legs left on it and i7/i5 is still producing too much heat for an all aluminium laptop (my 15" pro still gets a bit toasty playing games)

There will be an update in the next few months, given the price and competition there's no possible way apple can not bump the processor to an i7 sometime, the bigger question (aside from when) is what will happen to lower end 15" and 13" specs, an i5 would make sense but the mobile i5 has built in graphics which would be a step backwards from the 9400m currently used. It will happen in the next few months, the specifics are hard to guess but that it will happen isn't up for debate.

Speedbump will probably happen in either Jan or March. The MBP range is in need of it now really.

I'm currently waiting to see if they will announce a refresh of the MBP as I want to buy one now, but I keep telling myself wait for the Apple announcement first, but they are so pretty I want it now lol

Just hang on if you can. You'll lose nothing by waiting and if they are refreshed then you can get a nice new one, or get a bargain on the older one. But maybe set yourself a date such as the end of Jan and if there is no news by then, then buy one anyway.

That's a pretty good page. Starting to question it's accuracy though as it claims the iPhone is updated on average every 178 days, I thought it was a yearly update cycle.

Maybe I'm missing something.

Pretty sure it's accurate. If you click the dates underneath each product you can see the specific update. I think some of the iphone ones are pricing or memory size changes rather than a significant new model...

Ahh that would explain it. The rest seems great advice anyway.

I am also wondering about this.

My Macbook is currently playing up and I would like to get something newer with a larger screen. Was thinking of getting a reasonable macbook but I dont want to spend 1.5K for it to be upgraded soon.
