Intel's upcoming 45nm Core 2 Quad Q9300 processor should quickly become the new chip of choice for many enthusiasts upon its release as it will take over where the Q6600 leaves off; it will be the new entry level quad-core based processor running at 2.5GHz (333x7.5) with 6MB of L2 cache.German hardware site PCGamesHardware has been given the chance to tinker with an early sample of the Q9300 which they've constructively used the time to compare it to current quad-core processors on the market in a
bunch of various performance benchmarks.

You can clearly see the overclocking potential of the Q9300 from the World in conflict scores. I'll wait and see some more scores but I'm hoping the Q9300 with its sub £200 price point will be a huge winner for gamers, even though it has half the cache of its older siblings.

In Crysis its a slightly different story matched with the Core duo E6750 at stock speeds is interesting. Anyway you can see all the test results here.

Yeah 7.5 multi will get you no where with a quad, people get 45nm parts expecting to hit 4Ghz+ but with multi that low it's just not possible.

I'd much rather have a G0 Q6600 at 3.6Ghz or possibly further.

9400 is the sweet spot imho :)

8x multi, i might be tempted to upgrade :)

for those on air looking for an easy 3.6 maybe, but then most q6600's can do 3.6 under air anyway.

yorkfield quads aren't terribly inspiring to those of us with q6600's @ 3.8 or thereabouts ....not until motherboards can handle well over 500fsb with a quad.

the new Quads are very disapointing with such low multi's for the amount its going to cost you to get a *9 multi you are way better off with the new duel core.. is a real shame tbh

Yup, Q6600 is cheaper and has a higher multi than all the non QX yorkies.

At least it should keep the second hand resale value up on the Q6600 :p
