I'm pretty set on getting myself a new Vision:M to replace my now over-loved iRiver H320. They look like great players, with the bonus of extra space over my old H320, better video playback and a very tempting price tag.

But I'm after some new earphones to partner it with. I've been using some fairly bog-standard Sony MDREX71's with my iRiver but like the player they're now very battered and somewhat falling apart. I can't say I was ever too impressed with the sound quality from them either; I tend to listen to a lot of rock and metal and things like symbol crashes tended to over-dominate the entire track with an overly tinny noise for my liking.

Anyway, I don't really want to be spending more than the £50 mark. Tempted with the Shure E2c's at the moment - anyone got any comments on these, or other recommendations?

Can't go too far wrong with the e2c's I use them as spares (s.fi 5pro I use normally) and there very good, great sound isolation and tough as old boots.

ep-630
cx-300
e2c

in that order (VFM). any of them are excellent and really shouldnt dissapoint you. i'd choose the ep630's purely becasue they are fantasticly priced.

shure's are better than anything else at the price, though they're not that tough, the cable on mine gave up after about 7 months, replaced them with westone UM2s (though thats a little out of budget)

sharp md33s.

Better than the shures in most reviews, and half the price.

import from japan only (:
They're the same as the creative Ep-630's mentioned by Jimmy M. I was under the impression that the Sen CX-300's were better, not that I'm going to argue about it ;).

Senns look good!
All the Sennheiser headphone I used before have been great, and their price compared to the Shures make them more attractive.

Are the Shures very obviously better than the Senns? Or is it pretty nominal?

Go for the Creatives, or the Sharp MD-33s as Psypher said. They're the same driver and same look, only difference is the creatives have a Y neck cable and the Sharps have a neck chain.

The Senns haven't got as good drivers as the other too, but just look the same.

are the creatives 4pole? And is the vision m 4pole acceptable? I'm sure i saw the two mentioned in the same sentence? :x

Not as far as I know, might be for the remote, I'll have a try with my bros and my md33s in a min.

Edit : Lol, yeh, it's four pole for the remote, I tried using them and the thing went haywire :p.
