just wondering at what point would i be wasting money as i move up the quality ladder if that makes sense? with my stone plus
i have kosss ksc75s px100s and cx300s at present so without amping would it be a waste to get some grado sr80s or 125s i.e is the creative good enough to cope?

I would've thought you'd be fine with the SR80s without an amplifier.

cheers , i like the idea of the Grados , some of the chaps on headfi see them as a first step on the audiophile ladder would also consider some beyers or audio tecnicas ect ect. i suppose the senn 595s defo need an amp?
Thats my concern i.e £100 phones on a £40 player

Are these cans going to be used portably by the way? If so, you might want to look for something other than Grados if they're going to be used in a noisy environment or one which you might annoy those around you with the sound leakage.

Although I've never used them, the HD595s don't really need an amplifier. Maybe if you're an audiophile, but people like you and I probably won't appreciate the difference.

As a point of reference, I often use my Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros directly out of my iPod Nano and they sound fantastic, and these are considered more in need of an amplifier than the Senns. I only notice a slight improvement when using them with my Corda Move out of my laptop.
