I've finished preparing the base for my patio and now I need to choose patio slabs. It's 44 sqm so a fairly decent size, hence it's also costly to buy all of the materials. I want to use natural stone.

From looking online, it seems like the best value is purchasing the "patio packs" which consist of a number of different size slabs. If I want a pack of regularly shaped rectangle slabs it generally costs around 20% more.

Is laying a "patio pack" more difficult than regular sized slabs? I've read there's not much tolerance in regular sized slabs whereas using different sized slabs can provide some more tolerance?

Have a look in here :)

I suppose it depends on whether you want consistency or like the look of the different sizes.

Otherwise try and contact the supplier and you may get a discount on the regular sized packs for buying in bulk. I can't imagine cutting up the regular slabs would be difficult as long as you hire a decent saw.
