With the PS3 being reduced to £399 in a number of stores, the 360 has followed this up with similar price reductions:

Additionally, tomorrow - Good Friday - the console price craziness is set to continue, with ****.com telling us that it's planning to offer the Core Xbox 360 for just £149.99 - £50 lower than the RRP - and is dropping the price of the Premium Xbox 360 from £279.99 to £249.99. You'll have to be quick though because the offer only lasts until April 10 and stock is likely to be extremely limited

Almost tempted to pick up a 2nd 360

The PSP is also getting a drop in price in the states by i think $30 wouldn't be surprised to see that hit here too.

That is making me think about getting a core for upstairs, don't need 2 HDD (can just use the same one or my memory card), don't need wireless upstairs, don't need another wireless controller (have 3).
Would miss the decent video cable though so I'd be buying that or maybe a VGA cable.

My question would be...

When the elite comes out can we expect the premium to have an official price drop? i've waited so long to get a 360 and i don't want to be screwed over again by MS like i was with my launch xbox1.

Why wait? The price hasn't officially dropped in almost 18 months now, but bundles have got better. You've basically missed out on 18months of quality gaming.

You can get an Xbox360 Premium with Gears of War, Crackdown, Live Arcade, PGR3 and extra offical wireless controller for £299.99.

Hell, I paid £325 (I think) on launch day just for a premium, PGR3 and an extra wireless controller.

Plus you can play all the games you missed out on over the 18 months pretty cheaply now.

Well i was originally waiting because the PS3 was supposed to have a 2006 release, and my thought was that there would be an official price drop then :p

Obviously thats not happened, but i'd be annoyed if i finally gave in after 18 months of torture and they dropped it when the elite came out :(

Well you cant go far wrong with the bundles available at the moment. If you have a HDTV sitting there waiting to be utilised properly, why wait? :)

If you don't, just get one anyway because even if there is an official price drop, it's not gonna be much lower than the 250 its on offer for in the OP. But as said before, bundles are the way forward.

You don't even need an HDTV for HD goodness - I got mine hooked up to my second monitor (I run dual monitors) with a switch and a spare cable which cost me £15 quid all told. HD gaming fun - I love it :)

How did they screw you over? They offered you a product at aprice and you bought it. If they subsequently lower the price that is not screwing you over at all. In the same way if they raised the price after you bought yours they aren't doing you some massive favour.

It may not be screwing people over but to drop the price by a quarter 3 weeks after launch hardly inspires me to trust them again.

We could sit here and discuss consumerism all day but it wont change the fact that MS let down a lot of supporters through that debacle.

Personally i can't see the elite being released without a price drop in the core/premium, even the release of halo 3 could be a good time. I've waited this long might as well play the DS games that have been gathering dust and wait a bit longer.

Exactly. I simply can't see how people don't get this.

Understanding the concept isn't the same as feeling annoyed by it.

Doesn't matter anymore anyway so i don't know why i'm being given a lesson in capitalism, for me its a good thing because i decided not to buy a launch console again and so have avoided all these 'red circle of death' issues.
