Im soon going to be buying a new computer from OCUK and am probably going to buy an i7-3770K but as I am very in experienced with building computers and even more with overclocking I would like to know roughly to what extent I would be able to clock it and how easy and reliable it would be. I am looking to buy a nice heat sink like the K2 Mount Doom and a Gigabyte Z77X-D3H. If i were to buy components roughly a long those lines what kind of overclock would i be looking for?

This is dependent on many factors within the system. I say this because 4 dimms is harder to clock with than two, high frequency Dimms the same, two graphics harder than one. Stable power supply is a must. After that its a silicon lottery as they say!!! The Ivy CPU varies so much you see. I would say 4.4+ usually 4.6 above this and your lucky or running inefficient.

I have seen a couple of Ivy that do 5ghz on almost stock volts stable too!!!

My 3770k is stable at 1.248v for 4.5Ghz, that's with all four dimm slots taken up, gtx 480 in sli which are overclocked to 850Mhz, I think my voltage could actually go lower as this is what the BIOS sets for it at a 45 multi.

I'd say 4.5 is easy to do with a lot of chips, get a good motherboard to go with it, mine is in my sig.
