Currently got a stock fan on a 3570k and looking to upgrade. I got a noctua nh-l12 but that turned out to be HUUUGE, did not play well with my ram and graphics card being in the way.

Looking for a decent air cooler which I can stick in with ease. Don't really want to have a backplate for it as I'd rather not dismantle my entire machine to get that sorted. Was contemplating the SilverStone Argon Series AR05 until I read the manual on that front.

Can anyone pluck out something appropriate?

I have got the NH-U12S in my desktop which uses the same SecuFirm2 backplate if you still have that in place. NH-U12S is a 120mm tower but stays within the exclusion zone.

The NH-L9 series are good if you are looking for low-profile, but these also use the same backplate. I have one of these in my HTPC.

Do you not have backplate access in your case then?

SG07 case, I forget the mobo model. Gigabyte one, think it was z77 or something similar. I'll have to check when not on a phone.

Simply being lazy here. I could take it all apart but I just want to do it quickly.

I when I got the Noctua off and tried to put it where the stock fan was, I instantly noted how it would cause issues. Pipes and fan just did not play well with the layout for me. The RAM and card are really snug to where the CPU is.

It could be that I was also having a nightmare setting it up because I suddenly noted I needed a backplate PLUS I had rampant children raising my stress levels.

If I'm being too lazy on taking the thing apart, then I'm just going to have to bite the bullet.

EDIT:

Quick google is starting to point me in the direction of the Arctic Cooling Alpine. I'm no overclocker and this thing sits behind my TV. Might suit me well. My last cooler was Arctic, so I don't think I'd be complaining.
