Hey guys,

I’ve just lost my main hard drive with all stuff on it (Yes – I have a backup thankfully :-) and I’m just getting round to adding my iTunes again to the system.

Is there anyway of connecting my iPod to my computer without it syncing and me losing everything etc? There are a lot of episodes of shows on my iPod that I don’t have backed up and I don’t particularly want to have to start ripping them again – they take ages :o

If I do have to re-sync and lose everything, what is the best DVD to .avi ripper that I can use for ripping my DVD’s to my iPod? I’m A bit out of touch – I haven’t had to do it in a while…

Cheers,

SW.

Just what I thought :p

Thanks anyway!

Winamp? Right-click on "All (x artists)" at the top of the iPod media library and select "Copy to Local Media".

You'll need to have set a local media library on your PC, say C:\Music or something. :)
Would I need to still have iTune installed? Because I haven't got that far yet…

So to recap; Winamp will allow me to get my bits and bobs off of my iPod without me losing everything by syncing again with iTunes? Have I got the right idea :)

For example: WA is could let me 'browse' my iPod and get everything/or at least my videos off?

My .mp3's are in a Windows folder 'library' - I only ever use iTunes to put new stuff on my Pod. I'm a Windows Media man :p

Cheers guys,

SW.

I think it's still early days - we're just getting to know each other :D

I know it certainly got me out of a situation... I would have lost about 15Gb of video with iTunes

They're all safely backed up now anyway.
