Easy method to setting up x

Not sure if this is because of my cards, but I have just instaled Mandriva 2007 x64 onto a PC with a pair of 6600GT's.

At first, I only got a blue screen, I had the cross-hair mouse as expected, but nothign else?

Ok, I put the screen into the second VGA Card and there was the menu etc...

I went through it, and found the screen setup and I selected to have both displays displaying the same thing rather than spanned across both cards.

Then, the display went all of a sudden, and now I just cannot get it back?

Not sure why, but I have never had this much trouble before?

So, Im wondering... Is there a quick way of setting up a basic VGA Mode thatspretty much failsafe, for me to get a basic desktop up and running again?

Its annoying beause it boots and shutsdown in 1024x768 graphic mode but it just will not let me have a desktop anymore?

press ctrl-alt-f1 then run 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg'

Normally, Im ok with going through the x config procedure, but Im unsure why Im having as much trouble as I am doing this time round??? - the only thing I have thats different is that I have 2 Cards in this box... Other than that I dont know?

Anyway, Ill let you know how I get on in an hour or so... Cheers.

Best I have had with that is a plain and blank

dpkg-reconfigure is not a valid command

I will have a look to see if there is a dpkg rpm of some sort....

Forgot to mention that I am now getting this 3DDesktop program thats coming up...

I hace also reinstalled too, as I wanted to give SuSE 10.2 a go, but that failed to even install, but of course, not before it wiped my partitionms first of course...

Anyway, there is only CANCEL or HELP in the options, and NO 3D DESKTOP is selected with the Radio buttons, but there is no way to select NEXT.

If I click on CANCEL then I have to login again ,and I can only do that and get bjack to this 3D Desktop Selector again???

I dont get this issue with one card, so, for now... Im just going to remove the second card and re-try it all and see where I get.. Hopefully it will just allow me to play straight away without me resorting to yet another ReInstall?
