Hello chaps,

Just looking for opinions on the following build for gaming and content creation. I do a lot of design work, web and video based. Even so, I haven't gone with the quick sync version of the motherboard as I purely use Adobe software and it doesn't look like its going to be properly integrated with it any time soon. It's too immature basically.

This build is mainly in aid of BF3. So as long as I can play that nicely at 1680x1050 I'll be happy.

No major storage as I have that already and I'm going to use 20GB of the SSD to cache that drive, while the rest of the SSD will be my OS and primary programs.

I don't plan to do much overclocking. Just a small one on the CPU as it will be on air on the retail cooler (any opinions on the reference design?).

Any advice is much appreciated.

That mobo is out of stock. What's wrong with the Gigabyte, been using them for my intel boards since ever and not had an issue.

Lepa PSU looks interesting. I do like modular designs. Thanks for your input.

most important one is lucid virtu. it'll save a bunch of money on your electric bill
How so, I though quick sync etc was for video encoding?

very low end Z68 board, also iirc its missing 2 features a Z68 should have(not sure which ones though).
but if OPs budget doesnt allow for the Pro3, i guess the gigabyte will do.
or he/she can go for a P67

No I want the ISRT to use my SSD as a cache for my storage drives too, so I need a Z68 mobo. The original one I selected is missing the onboard gfx, so I can't use quicksync or lucid virtu features. With those not being properly supported by Adobe products yet then I'm not too fussed, just waiting to see what Reaper means about Lucid virtu.

So it can switch on the fly without me doing anything? Any stats on how much energy it saves?

I've not really classed Gigabyte boards as skimping before. I'm never going to SLI or xfire my cards, I want SSD caching and not too fussed about quick sync. It's annoying that there aren't any reviews around for that specific gigabyte board.
