Hey,

Tried to install a version of windows (already had another one running)... broke halfway... went to restart and bootmgr cant be found from my orginal windows xp(i.e. no windows screen at all)... I've had a look on the internet but cant seem to find a nice simple cd image that will allow me it all running again (data still in tact)... does anyone know of anything? (Running Knoppix now).

Many thanks,

Dougie

Try booting off the XP CD, and then going to the recovery console by pressing R when prompted.

Then at the prompt type in FIXBOOT then your XP drive

then type in FIXMBR when finished... Should repair the drive, you can then format the second disk that you tried to install the second copy of windows, and tray again.
