Can anyone give me any advice over the giga byte easy tune 6 software which can with my mobo (MA790XT UD4P). Is it any good / worth using or do you use other software

ET6 is pants mate, use your BIOS for overclocking.
+1

It struggles on even basic overclocks and doesn't balance settings at all. It's definitely worth your time to find some overclocking guides online and doing it yourself.

I tried to use ET6 once when I first got my UD5, I tried to raise Bclk up 5MHz, and when I pressed the set button it locked up my PC and I had to reset my system.

Overclocking via the BIOS is really easy, it does seem a little bit daunting to begin with, but if you read up about your board on this forum and others, you will get the hang of it in no time...

My experience is completely different. I think its really useful especially the OC profiles you can set in windows. I can use stock speed for normal stuff and OC when gaming/encoding etc...without rebooting. Works perfectly for me. also, got my E6300 @ 2.8Ghz to 3.7GHz at stock volts. Its awesome! (but using intel cpu not amd)
