Easy way to secure some local files

Can anyone recommend a good free program that can secure files on a local PC easily.
Its for some none tech savvy people. So something that would say allow them to put all the files in a secure folder that can only be accessed with a password Similar to how secure memory sticks work but locally.

VeraCrypt.

Encrypted container on local/shared storage.
User(s) can only mount it using VerCrypt application and the passkey of course. From there it just works essentilly as a mounted drive and user can R/W from it.

Be careful here, if you set it up for them and they forget the password, they will be royally screwed.

They will blame you
