Easy ways to make GTX 260 cards low profile?

I just picked up a second GTX 260 in the hope of setting up SLI but found that since motherboards weren't designed with massive gfx cards in mind, part of where the fan housing should be lives my SATA connectors :(

Are there any ways to easily modify this?

Yeah I need to take a closer look but I dont think that would work :(

There are 4 ports right next to each other so right angle ones wouldn't fit in the majority of them :/

What motherboard you got? If you can tell us what it is, then may be we can have a look at the lay-out (or if you can take a picture on the SATA port layout for your board would be fine too)?

To be honest I don't know why would to get an extra GTX260 to go SLI now, when it would had been better to sell your existing one, and just go for single faster card, as going SLI/Crossfire on the 200 and 4000 series cards can get quite toasty.

the board is a P5N-E

I've just checked and the 4 SATA Ports are pretty much in line with the centre of the fan on the bottom 260 :( I thought they were more in line with the corner of the housing so thought I might be able to remove some of it but that doesn't look likely!

It was meant to be a cheap upgrade rather than buying a new card since I already had an SLI motherboard.

I might try some right angle SATA cables or ones with smaller plugs on the end to see if I can squeeze it in there :/

Well the good news is that I managed to find some different SATA cables I had lying around that had slightly shorter SATA plugs. Unfortunately I was one short so I had to cut away at some of the plastic so that it would bend over more lol :)

Now the gfx card is in there and wedged against the SATA cables :E
