For a fee, you can put one bag in the hold weighing up to 20kg. The fee can be paid in one of three ways:

•online (£9 - £15 per passenger per flight, depending on the route)

•via call centre (fees as per above)

•or at the airport where the fee is £25 at the check-in and £40 at the gate.

Are you saying you want to carry on this other bag or book another into the hold?

I'd phone up, I can't find anything and can only assume you will be charged at £10 per kilo for excess baggage.

I don't know how possible it is but ludicrous as it sounds you might almost find it cheaper simply to book a second seat as excess baggage prices tend to be very hefty, it appears to be £21 per 3kg even if you pre-book it.

where are you flying to and why do you need the extra 20KG? Maybe look into a courier? Or look at putting it in some kind of sports bag and seeing if you can wangle it as sports equipment.

How would they know this?

I have never seen people weighted at an airport, you could have a coachload of fatties turn up so how the hell could they say we are over weight is beyond me
Plus of course some people buy loads of stuff in duty free ....
