Happy with:

- my new 8800gtx delivers stonking performance across the board in all current games. No game i can't play at 1680x1050 maxed out. Loving it

- prices for 8800's (well except the ultra) are very good, and can cater any 8800 to your budget (i.e. 320mb,640mb,Gtx e.t.c.)

Angry with:

- It only works in XP, tried vista and every game i tried crashes/locks up or just refuses to play, proabably aminly due to nvidia's drivers.

- DX10 Performance

-ATI giving lacklustre competition, and thus slowing down the new cards and advancements.

happy with my new 8800gts :D runs everything i have on full

angry with the fact i still have to use xp, vista looks so much nicer but there is an obvious difference in performance between xp and vista. also the price, no big price drops in a while.

LOL

Indeed it has but you stuck by your guns and posted valued analysis. :D

Thanks for your vigour :D

lol he certainly has stuck by his guns. if the 2900xt ever needed a friend it seems tom was there to help it along.

quite heart warming really *wipes tear from cheek*

Not happy with the state of affairs, vista x64 drivers are still bad from nvidia, and there's no gfx card to choose between a 1950xtx and a 8800GTS, I can't afford a GTS while I dont want a 1950xtx as it's too slow imo, I want something more, errr in-between...

Hardly any good games with revolutionary graphics in the last 12 months imo, no game yet ''forced'' me to upgrade my ageing 6800, really a shame software hasn't come that far yet that it can't run on 2 year old graphics anymore...

Last 12 months only made me want to look forward more to the next generation of gfx, nvidia's G92, and perhaps something on ATI's side to drive the prices down of the 8800 series and force nvidia to work harder on new cards again.

Gfx certainly got a nice speed boost compared to last generation.

Still stuck at the same dead end job, still have no gf, still have a naggy mum, still have...oh, you mean graphics...oh ok....

Well, currently deciding between the 8800GTS 320mb and 2900XT, but thats another thread.

Wasn't overly impressed by my X1900XT in X-Fire, but they'll do.

umm, and STALKER was too short, PARTICULARLY the end sections, damn, it really seemed a dash to the finish rather than the decent into man made hell I thought it was going to be. Bah, it could have been so much more, so so much.

I must have a special 8800gtx as i have been gaming in vista 64bit with no problems yet....

What can be gleamed from the past 12 months in GFX?

Are we (consumers) happy?

Are we (consumers) restless?

Thoughts :)

Extremely happy with my new PC (see sig) which includes a BFG 8800GTX.

Can max out every game I have an every demo I've downloaded, all run 100% perfectly :D

um, well lucky you
Have you tryed with everything at stock speeds (E.G cpu, memory & 8800 gpu)

Plus:: try with your memory set to 2T timing...(As i myself was getting lockups in vista when i had my memory set to 1T)

That made me lol and cry at the same time :)

Graphics seems to have stagnated somewhat for obvious reasons. Gotta wait till November for anything new, I really hope ATI pull something out of the bag this time round, somehow I doubt it. Theres no games out atm I want to play (oblivion and Wow never appealed to me) so I've been replaying some older ones. Incidentally, I'm using Vista 32bit and gamiing has been a breeze, no lockups, freezing, etc at all.
Gonna give pcs a break anyway, I've got a loft conversion starting on the 25th (today) so all of me time is gonna be taken up with that for the ensuing weeks, I've gotta dryline the walls, plaster, wire, plumb, decorate the whole thing. Would make a nice home cinema room which I mentioned to the missus, but the look I got would stun a charging rhino at 400 yards :D :p
