You need to clone the speckle out between his eyes and blur the background. It is a shame you didnt get the whole tail in. Nice to see sharp eyes, always good.
Why ? It's the same grains of sand that cover his nose after rummaging the ground to search for food. It's reality.
Agree about the background; on reflection a wider appature would have been better, but it's a case of striking a balance between getting the subject sharp & isolating the background.
Still - practice, practice, practice
The speckle looks lost and it doesnt complement the stuff on the nose at all. Its also quite destracting as the main focal poit is the squirells eyes but all you look at is the little speckle of grain/dirt.
