Have you done this before? Did you enjoy it?

Know of four friends and family going out for Christmas Day meal.

Average price per head is £75 - before drinks!

For me I wouldn't enjoy it as for a few reason - no turkey for turkey sandwiches/curry, have to share a large area with other families. If one has a kid that won't stop screaming, lack of veg (as restaurants presume that EVERYONE hates veg)

I've been once and actually really enjoyed it. Was loads and plenty of veg and could ask for another bowl of to be brought out if you was running short. Was about £40 a head when we went and yeah proper. Was with friends rather than family mind.

I've done it with friends before and it was great fun. Start off with some fizzy drinks (lager + champers, separately you monster) then on to some delicious food served by surly yet well-paid Hotel staff, top off with still drinks (gin, whisky, separately is your choice by this stage) and then home and in bed by 4.30pm.

:thumbs up:

Any Christmas eating out I do will be in the run-up to Christmas. I.e. yesterday was our work's Christmas do and we went to a Toby's carvery. The turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets etc and vegetables were excellent, but you could also choose a couple of other meats than turkey as well.

I would find eating out on Christmas day strange, because Christmas Day is rather like lockdown. Everyone stays in.

Conversely, I would also find having a Christmas do in January strange because the event is already over. Not really the same vibe and everyone is skint. I do know 1 friend though whose company have their work's do in January.

You know what? I wouldn't go if I were you.... <LOL>

Often toyed with the idea to take the pressure off family members cooking but never seem to bother… the main concern being we won’t get 3 plates of Christmas dinner if we eat out
