I just sold a phone on eBay, the first time I've used it for ages as I hate using eBay. Anyway, someone just won the auction and having viewed their profile they are located in Portugal.

Query: how can I refuse to sell to overseas buyers, and how can I tell whether I am obliged to post this item to Portugal? The postage I had listed was RMSD.

P.s can I just cancel the sale?

It's probably that Global Programme or whatever it's called where you send it to eBay here in UK and they resend it, they leave that on as default for most listing.

But yeah can just cancel sale, gives you a few reasons as options.

Did you enable global shipping programme when listing the item? Usually not having that on stops you selling outwith the UK.

But yes, you can cancel the sale. Personally, I don't have many issues with GSP, but I do check if the buyer looks legit.

I can't recall ever seeing GSP, therefore it was probably enabled. I'll see what it says for postal address when/if they've paid.

Cheers

You can just cancel the auction without much comeback. I don’t sell anything if value on eBay, personally would rather take a smaller amount of somewhere like musicMagpie then risk a scam.

I've just did that, and after fees musicMagpie is working out pretty much the same.

I've cancelled a few times to avoid being scammed and have never had any comebacks.

When you list the item you can click on locations where it will be sent to. I just tick all the boxes and also on description I put on (dispatch to UK addresses only and no PO address)

This has been a great suggestion, I've just sold my Pixel 6 with them too, for £200. Much less hassle than eBay.

Thanks :)

I used to sell on eBay a lot because the 1 quid selling offers were brilliant. Not sure with the 70% variable fees it is worth it anymore now either.
