Let me give you a rhetorical idea for a ebay business, lets say someone I know has a business that does this.

The idea is to list items on Ebay that are also sold on Amazon. They list the item on Ebay for a higher price than is on Amazon. Thus profit.

I questioned the fellow and he says people are buying his stuff.

Is this a genius idea or not? Thanks.

You'd be relying on people on eBay not checking Amazon first. But many people don't, so you'd do OK.

Sounds like a lot of admin work for very little return though.

Not. Margins are likely poor and very little control over customer service.

Also as soon as the thing showed up in an Amazon box, the seller would check, realise they have spent £10 over the odds and return it.

I would be incredibly surprised if Amazon didn't flag an account sending 10 parcels a day to different addresses, with each address used only once. There comes a point where it's almost indistinguishable from credit card fraud.

maybe its just me but I'd assume they got amazon to deliver to them then sent out to the customer.

Heck if people dont shop around it's hard to feel overly sorry for them.

you can do this for ANY business. go sell what OCUK sell but sell it on ebay for a slight increase. this idea can be applied to anything but it will rarely work other than perhaps for items that are already expensive so small bit on top wont make a difference, however you'd still need to get the items delivered to you first then the customer, so extra shipping, then what if you miss the deliver to you.

also ebay always sides with the buyer, where as amazon wont so easily.

It's a very old idea called drop shipping and can be done much cheaper than using amazon as your source but yes you can easily make a living.

I once got drop shipped on ebay for some egyptian cotton sheets. The uk seller was fobbing me off about delivery time then when they arrived damaged she tried fobbing me off as " was only a drop shipper" .

So if I found out you were doing this I'd never buy from you lol but I'm sure given the size of the market there's huge potential

I have done it.
also buyers can't just return an item to you because you drop shipped...

A few people have moaned about it, but it's their fault for not checking out prices elsewhere.

I have a friend who drop ships around 20 items per day from various online shops.
It's a lot of admin but he makes around 80 quid in profit per day along side his normal job, where he just sits and does his admin lol

Loads of retailers already do this and I would near enough always choose Amazon as it's usually cheaper on there and easier to deal with if things go wrong.

People make money from this, which I don't have a problem.

It just infuriates me that people don't shop around and buy off eBay of all places!!

Why on earth would you buy something from ebay for more money, when their customer service is diabolical compared to Amazon's.

Also, a lot of people use their prime subscription to do this so they get free delivery but this is specifically against the t&c's of prime so it is a bit underhand.
