I have only sold a few items on ebay. I sold a couple a few weeks ago and got feedback from one of the buyers a couple of days later. I didn't hear anything from the other buyer so after about a week I sent him an message to ask if he had received the item but he didn't reply.
I always leave feedback as a buyer when I get the item and it is ok and then get feedback from the seller. All the other people who have bought from me have left feedback first. I feel a bit uncomfortable as a seller leaving feedback before I hear that the item has arrived and the buyer has no complaints.
Hence I haven't yet left feedback for him. He has sent me a message asking me to leave positive feedback for him and then he will leave me feedback. As far as I am concerned this is the wrong way round. If the item has arrived and he is happy then he should surely leave feedback first rather than insisting I do so first.
What makes me more suspicious is that looking at his recent feedback I could only find one seller that he had left feedback for despite the others leaving him positive feedback.
In his message he does say he received the item but doesn't say that it is all ok. I am just worried that if I leave him positive feedback before he does that he can then complain and I have already given him a positive rating. It seems that he is concerned about chasing his feedback but doesn't leave it for others.
I haven't had a lot of experience with ebay so perhaps I am being too paranoid but should I just leave him feedback and hope he does the same or contact him and ask him to leave feedback first? Is there an established custom for who should leave feedback first, the buyer or the seller?
thanks
