I purchased an a sopranos DVD set from ebay for £45 and paid using paypal

I received an email from the seller saying the payment had gone through

I log on to ebay the day after and the listing has disappeared from the items ive won, ebay have deleted it?

So hopefully the item will arrive in the post, but if not am I up the creek?

is that right, i had no idea you could do that

i'll give this person a few more days before I get officially worried (youre supposed to wait 7 days)

good plan?

yeah make sure you give him a fair chance first, its quite possible there is nothing wrong anyway. But paypal will give you back the money if nothing comes and hes tried to scam you, he will have to prove he sent it.

DVD boxsets are a popular one for scammers. Be thankful you paid with Paypal... I once made the mistake of paying by bank transfer for a new 24 boxset. No chance of getting that back.

arghh im £45 notes down and ive just got to wait 7 days before i make my complaint

i have to give them a chance, i may turn up tomorrow (fingers crossed)

You may well get an email from ebay in the coming day or two saying something like:

If you have already paid for the item, we suggest you take steps to stop your payment if possible. If you sent a cheque or your credit/debit card information, contact your bank. If you paid for this item using cash, MoneyGram or Western Union transfer, we recommend that you contact your local police as soon as possible. Retain any emails you exchanged with the seller as the police may need them in order to investigate further. eBay will gladly help the police with their investigations if needed.

Ebay / paypal are a massive scam to make Meg Whitman rich beyond belief - and have/will never care about the reality of cases.

My g/f lost her paypal account due to buying a bra... on ebay!! Sexually explicit goods apparently.... despite the seller not losing their ebay/paypal account. Bizzarre.

aye her name pops up in loads of ebay problems be it:

the fees, paypal, rip off fess of ebay/paypal, scams, ebay/papyap doing nothing of the ebay/paypal "protection policy" etc (for both legit sellers and buyers that get hit by dodgey buyers/sellers.

Silly little mooo if i saw her, id well i wouldnt punch her cos she is a woman, but she runs ebay and paypal so i think i would insted kick her in the teeth, take all her money off her then shout "Scamnmer, PayPal/eBay suspended me account so suck eggs" haa
lol

To be honest, everyone loves complaining about ebay and paypal, but you all keep using them :)

Lack of another choice to be quite honest. I only buy things that are near impossible to buy elsewhere. Ive just bought some aluminium section.
Ebay and paypal are fine, until something bad happens.

Mind you, I've been stung in the past. And have, since, wised up.

HOWEVER even when I've done everything by the book (ie my post above) they STILL manage to screw me over.

But as the above post, I only ever get things from eBay when they are NOT availble else where. Probably spend around £30 a month on there nowerdays. Lots of little cheap things.

As crap as it is eBay is the only big online second hand site around. :o :(
