eBay gone to pot?

ah well if he end it to tesco InPost locker by royal mail. he should get it back as undeliverable and can then send it on using inpost method all at his expense. or you tell him too late and cancel the order.

Going to cancel the order, I wanted the item unfortunately, but his communication is dire.
I'll get the cash back no issue. It's just so strange for someone who has high feedback.

He did not use the requested postage method, he did the wrong thing so ebay will side with you if it escalates I suppose plus you have automatic buyer protection.

Yeah it's more it's just a bizarre situation. It's like I'm talking to someone who's never used ebay before.

Almost as if he's sold his account to someone else. Or some relative is using it who's new.

Ebay will be struggling with facebook marketplace and vinted. They're in their most challenging time. One thing they do have is competition with Amazon who demand a £35 minimum order to get free postage.

Some people are strange on there, they have lots of feedback or seem to operate like a business but can't read basic stuff.

I sold an RX 580 on there , collection only, had some one buy it and so messaged them for when they would like to collect, they replied to post it as that's what they had paid for

Its a bizarre one.
The guy hasn't messaged back. Soon as I ask for tracking he just goes Quiet.
If it says its been delivered I can even ask tesco if they have it.
So I'm guessing he hasn't even posted it or something.

I just can't believe someone with 3000 feedback would not use the postage method asked for... And then not use a tracked service if posted via another method.
And even then, just say it and offer a refund or something.

Weird.

Marketplaces have no barriers to entry and you can't see who you're dealing with, so that thicko sat outside Wetherspoons spending his last couple of quid on a Stella whilst trying to fob off his used DVD collection until his next benefits cheque comes in, and who looks at you like you're a martian when you're trying to explain the difference between "bought" and "brought" has just as much input as you do.

Aka windowlickers, as you're now finding out.

Not an ebay rant, a seller rant.
But wow. Going through a right weird situation with a seller at the moment.

Now, I'll preface with this... This seller has 3000 Feed back so this is bizarre.

I ordered something over a week ago to be delivered to a locker.
Tracking shows label generated and it sits like this for 5 days.

I message for an update and he says he's posted it.
Me: tracking isn't shown as dropped off
Him: ignore the tracking it's wrong, I've posted it by royal mail today, I don't understand this InPost thing.
(it was requested by InPost, his 3000 ratings suggest he understands postage)
Me: OK, no problem, did you post it ty my house?
Him: no I posted it to the address requested. Tesco.
Me: that's an InPost locker, it's not going to get there.
Him: give it a few days
Me: but it's not going to go anywhere. Have you at least got the tracking?
Him: I'll get the tracking for you tonight.
(2 days pass)
Me: did you get the tracking sorted?
Him: does it fit?
Me: I haven't recieved it.

Wtf, I dunno if he's trying to fob me off and hope I give up, or he's genuinely dense.

Anyway. I'll be putting in a refund request when the window opens. Just baffled by this guy.
What was the item? 3,000 feedback sounds like a business.
A lot of sellers buy the item from China as somebody buys it on their site. They then get the seller in China to ship it over to the buyer.

I often wonder about some of the eBay live auctions, I've bought a few things on there that are clearly real, but I do find it's full of used/returned clothing. It's also sometimes worth shopping around before bidding, a lot of it is impulse buying that can be found on eBay or other sites for a bit less.

I'm also a bit suspicious about some of the higher value items, I've only ever watched higher value watch sales, you get one person pushing the price up, if it's likely a "friend" pushing prices up when things aren't selling where they want. When there's someone buying 20 watches, they're either a trader or they are there to push prices up. A £0.99 no reserve watch and someone goes straight in at £2000.

An out of production, branded, piece of clothing I wanted.
The seller isn't high volume. And it's not Chinese tat.
Really confusing.

Felt like someone like me who sells. Some stuff on side of a main job.

Look at it another way @413x, most people don't question their purchases, they don't research and they don't compare. They often 5* a product because it's new and shiny, and often don't question how it arrive regardless if they're at work and can even receivd the parcel. So building feedback isn't too difficult and any negative feedback is quickly removed by refunding the buyer and not wasting time.

The guy has simply stopped responding to messages. I'm thinking he didn't even send it. Maybe it sold on another platform or something. And rather than just telling me has just vanished from messages.

Weird. But people can be odd.

Refund window opens tomorrow, so will be getting a refund via ebay then.
