eBay help - possible fruad....

Once the money has cleared, Paypal cannot then reverse the transaction.

They would have to contact a debt collector.

Yes they can, if the money was paid through a stolen account the bank will reverse charges. If you withdrawl that money, your account will still be debited. It's happened to one person I know, he couldn't do a thing.

Do not accept any money unless paid by cash, and just void the auction.

they reverse the transaction ( the buyer to paypal one ) leaving you with a negative balance and then start proceedings for recovery

And if you refuse to let the debt collector in, they can take it to court?
there is no debt collector, they send the same letter to every single person saying the same person will be at their house at the same time, nobody will come. They will also phone you saying this but you simply ignore them, they cant do anything. Its just to try to get you scared to pay them or make an arrangement for monthy payments. they will not take you to court

You don't have to pay them! The bank will just reverse charges. If the money is paid through a hijacked account it is theft, you won't be able to keep this money just because it's cleared. The bank will just withdrawl it back out, and if your balance is 0 you'll be overdrawn by that amount.

Like I said I knew of somone who sold something on ebay, the money cleared, he sent the item. A few days later paypal contacted him that the transaction was fraudlent, paypal took the money back. So he was £x in debt and didn't have the item.

I wouldn't be giving advice like that out without some proof to be honest mate, I'm pretty sure that PayPal would be able to contract in bailiffs to recover money that is owed to them, any other company can!

And having been on the recieving end of bailiffs on more than 1 occasion, it's not a nice experience.

The simple thing to do would be hold the money in the paypal account and contact Paypal saying that you think that someone has paid you using a defrauded account.

and then that company send out empty threat letters and phonecalls, bottom line being you dont have to pay them anything, and they know it

They come round to your house and take the money in cash :)

Happened to a friend for about £120.
Just paid on the spot.

Bit dodgy though ;)

this is good to know there are a few items i want on ebay and i have a paypal account so all i need to do is

win the bid

send some money via paypal

wait for the items

say to paypal it didn't arrive

paypal according to posts here will not check to see if package did arrive and will give me my money back and take the decent law abiding guy to court.

Hmm wouldn't it be easier for paypal to request some proof that it arrived/didn't arrive. By registered post it's an easy thing to proove.

Or just fund the payment by paypal with your credit card and phone your credit card company to tell them it didn't arrive. You get the money back faster :(

I wouldn't use paypal to accept money for more than £50. For a laptop I would except a cheque or they can collect in person for cash.

Also paypal charge you for chargebacks :(

www.paypalsucks.com all the proof you need

A2Z if it's as easy as what your making out why don't the scammers just scam paypal?

I'll send you £5,000, then I report to paypal that I didn't recieve item. I get my £5,000 back and we meet up in Tesco's car park and you give me £2,500.

We both Win!
