I think this is absured

I spent all morning put up auctions and they've started to remove them

due to this line :

I accept Bank Transfer, Cheque or cash (nochex and paypal also accepted if you cant use other methods)

What do you people think?

WTF? That's stupid. Surely ebay should allow you to accept money however the hell you want to accept money! Pathetic tbh

I dont think its becuase of nochex, i think its becuase its "cash" (which i didnt need to list anyway)

but they deleted it, now I have to type it aall up again and add the pictures again!

Sellers may not solicit buyers to mail cash, and you should not use Western Union, MoneyGram or other Instant Money Transfer method to pay for eBay purchases.

I wouldn't put PayPal in brackets at the end as an afterthought either. Most people will want to use that and if there's any doubt about your willingness to accept it uncomplainingly, I would be put off as a buyer.

It's worth saying that PayPal are scammers AFAIC. They take a huge amount of commission as though they were a valid payment service when in fact they're nothing of the sort. They can't even perform their own validation of a user's address, relying instead on users' credit cards - mandatory if you wish for your address to be "verified".

As for Buy-It-Now and instant payment, what a joke. The only way you're eligible for compensation is if you restrict your buyers to confirmed addressees and only if you then ship to the confirmed address using tracked postage. Most people aren't verified, not all credit cards can be used to verify addresses, and not everyone is in during the day so they will often prefer for you to post to their work address (understandably).

IMO, PayPal shouldn't be allowed to issue an ID without first verifying it as credit card companies do, as their current system is recklessly encouraging online fraud.

In my experience of selling on ebay, most buyers ARE verified but it could be different if you sell products in different sectors to me. It is straightforward enough to comply with PayPal's rules and if the item is valuable I state in my listings that buyers must be verified or they must use another payment method.

While PayPal has its flaws it is virtually essential to use them if you want to sell on ebay because most other sellers do, and it is so seamlessly integrated into the whole ebay payment process.

Ebay makes me laff. They remove auctions of genuine sellers for a 'wording technicality' but yet allow other auctions that are quite obviously scams from asia to run there coarse with no action.

Joke

Have you reported the auctions which are 'obviously scams'? In my experience they remove such auctions quickly when notified.

what if an item is too big/heavy to post?

For example, I am about to advertise one of my Synths, which has no box.

I am not prepared to post it due to the delicate nature of it.

Paypal is also not an option..

What are my options then? With a good view to not being scammed)

Buyer collects, thats all you can do
"Payment on Collection"

If people want to use Paypal then they should take the time and get verified.
I am verified and also so are both my home and work addresses.

Of course Paypal are only interested in offering protection to people who post to verified addresses.
Otherwise every person stupid enough to post an item to Nigeria would be making claims against them.

Paypal deal with literally hundreds of thousands of transactions a day and we hear of a handful (at most) going wrong or being an issue.
I'd say that is a pretty good ratio of good to bad payments.
In most cases when people come onto forums and moan about Paypal they don't take a moment to look from the other side of things.
It's moan, moan, moan - ask them if the shoe was on the other foot and they will tell you it should still be ruled in favour of them (no surprises).
