Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel i7 1366 Motherboard - Damaged / Faulty

There are several bent pins on the CPU socket and some track damage on the rear of the board near the CPU socket.

could i buy a new mounting for the cpu and install it?

Is track damage actually repairable ?

I don't know if i can post a link to ebay so i won't but you can go check it out.

i was hoping to make a profit

Edit: i'm actually pretty handy with most things, i don't have knowlege of all the tech speak and crazy stuff you guys do, but with a little guidance and a few tutorials and research i get most things fixed, even when i don't know what they are... has made me money in the past.

Uneconomical repair. Socket can be changed out, not by you though and depending on how deep the track damage is, that could well be too far gone for the avg person to repair. You're probably looking at more than the board cost new to repair it, likely more.

Too much of a gamble IMO unless the board is really really cheap... you could be looking at anything from a few minutes work to needing extensive and costly work done.

It's on ebay at 0.99p and it retails repaired for $250 the track damage looked like a few minor scrapes and some sort of glue stuck to the back but without it in front of me i cant tell fully.

The CPU socket has bent pins but non missing, with some very gentle work with tweesers i have repaired one before and numerous sockets with bent pins.

Ask yourself why the current seller isn't fixing it, or getting it fixed. I'm sure they will have a plausible reason, but if it was easy to fix and they could sell it for $250 I'm sure they would have done so.

Good point i had thought this but we bought things from carboots without knowing what they were and someone else said they were broken but we got them working... made a lot of money in some cases.

Just was hopefull that this person don't have a clue ... nevermind i'm going to pass it up

could just bid a max of a fiver, if you fixed it, you've just made a hefty profit. if not then well...that's 2 pints less over the weekends ;p

itll cost you £10 for the replacement socket, and £70 to solder it onto the new board, idk how much for the pcb repair

i dont know if gigabyte would repair it? there pretty good at repairing cpu socket damage but theres no guarantee they would accept an rma

Whos paying that? I got a replacement brand new off a supplier for 58.00 for that same board a few months ago. You can try your luck but with that kind of damage who knows if anything else is missing from the board or something else isn't damaged? I've repaired the odd few pins on LGA boards but no way am i going to waste time on that.
