eBay nintendo DS games, are they all fake?

I have bought two DS games from different sellers, both have been fake.

The first one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOSHI-MON...ideo_Games_Video_Games_JS&hash=item3a7d0e4278

Completely fake, manual doesn't even fit in the box properly, poor print on the cover, not original seal etc. I complained to him and he admitted it was fake via eBay messages. He then told me to write "return to sender" on the parcel and send it him back! I told him I am not ripping off royal mail. He then offered me £2 as that is all he makes apparently, basically he was trying to make me feel sorry for him.

I reported him and spoke to eBay who said they'd look into his account etc, that was 2 weeks ago. He has sold 200+ since then.

I got nowhere with him so I opened an eBay case and he made one reply telling me to return it, I was pretty annoyed at this point after 10+ messages of him talking rubbish so I simply said I will but why should I trust you?

No reply after 10+ days so I escalated it to eBay and I got a refund after literally 1 minute. Bit strange they did it so fast..

Ok the next one I wanted to get Mario Kart 7 for my 6 year old sister as she enjoys it on my 3DS, but it was a bit pricey so I bought...

Now this is actually the top selling DS game/listing on eBay at the moment. If you search "Nintendo DS Game" on eBay it is the first buy it now auction that comes up.

It arrived today and again its fake. Do eBay even care about this? looking around it seems that ebay has been flooded with fake DS games for a very long time.

Anyway TL;DR version = Don't buy DS games off of eBay unless you want fakes.

I agree but you bought the 2nd game on the cheap too so you are a bit silly but you know that.

do the fakes still work btw?

Have you left any feedback regarding them to the sellers?

Its possible that the main reason why the sellers are shifting so much stock is because they have 99.5% and 99.9% positive feedback and are 'Top Sellers'

How much of the 'Positive Feedback' is actually true feedback and not faked is another question, but with ratings as high as that, people are going to automatically go "Ooh they have good feedback, must be genuine etc"

Got a dodgy Pokemon Emerald on GBA once,
They Game was Still perfectly Playable but it just came in a clearly Fake Box, no shiny effects or anything.

I don't really mind Fake Games that much, as long as I pay a fake game price, rather than the real price of the game.

I know :(

I've hid my shame now. But in all fairness, i got the game off the bay for around £12 and the place i got it from was charging £35. At them Prices, I really don't resent it that much.

I bought it from the shop in the first place because the bay one took weeks to come, and i wanted to play it. So i bought it before it arrived.

I could have either sent it back to Lithuania, which would take about 13 years and £17m. And get my £12 back.

Or do a little switcharoo and get my £35 from the shop... :D

You are not 'ripping off royal mail'. Every item you send out, comes with a free return (at least, it does with business accounts and PPI impressions) by doing the above.

The short answer: "Yes they're all fake. No, ebay doesn't give a monkey's chuff as ebay are happy to make their cut - that's all they care about."

Welcome to capitalism :)

Yes they work. I agree the 2nd game was cheap but the first one was only like £2 or £3 cheaper than retail.

Did you check the feedback of seller 2? someone does say in a neg that the games are fake.

Yes, but being an eBay seller myself you can get customers that claim that even when they are legit goods. I thought 0 neg's in the past month plus all the positives and top rated seller kind of makes up for it.

Yep, left a neg for the first one.

I guess the good old quote is:

'You get what you pay for' comes to mind... however do the fakes still work?

The first game was not that much cheaper!

I have a business account with Royal Mail, where can I read about that please? Genuinely interested!

I remember it as part of the terms and conditions or something, but that was about 2 years ago. I cannot remember where! And I cannot be arsed searching :p.

Reply from the 2nd guy...

Hi

I brought a mixed pallet of goods from a supplier, far as I'm aware they are genuine. We have had no issues in the past as all of our Games have been tested.

As a good will gesture, please keep the following product.
Please note that a full refund has just been done now on PayPal.

As this was resolved quickly, please can I ask for you not to leave me any neutral or negative feedback?

I do apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards.

I wonder how he tests 1500+ games and how they are then all sealed?

He knows they're fake, he gives it to you for free, he gets feedback, he carries on selling to the unsuspecting.

You got a free game, could leave it there. Unless you wish to punish this crimelord.

According to his eBay he is VAT registered and so does over £77k per year.

It seems a lot but still its more time and effort than its worth to get his listings etc removed.

I did just ask him how he tested 1500+ games and reseals them though lol.

You don't have to earn over the threshold to be VAT registered.
